Meet The Board

Plan B is governed by a five member Board of senior directors and industry leaders with extensive experience in local, national and global business.

Gray Mathias | Non-Executive Chairman

Gray Mathias is a founding shareholder and Director of Plan B and is known for his entrepreneurial contributions to the New Zealand meat industry. Gray founded Mathias Meats in 1974, an international meat trader with offices throughout the world which he later sold to then NZX-listed Affco. Gray was also the founder of Horizon Meats which was a significant exporter of processed lamb.

Gray has a 33% shareholding in Plan B’s controlling shareholder, Tazio Limited, which has a 75% shareholding in Plan B.

Ian Forrester | Managing Director

Ian Forrester joined Plan B in late 2007 when he led a buyout of the other shareholders with Gray Mathias and is the only Executive Director on the Plan B Board. Ian is an experienced corporate financier and strategist working as an investment banker internationally for companies including Société Générale, Credit Suisse/First NZ Capital and KPMG Corporate Finance before joining Plan B.

Ian has led Plan B through a period of significant growth, geographic expansion and new service development. Ian has an Honours degree in Business and Finance, is a CFA charter holder and a member of the CFA Society of New Zealand and the CFA Institute.

Ian has a 67% shareholding in Plan B’s controlling shareholder, Tazio Limited, which has a 75% shareholding in Plan B.

Michael Stiassny | Non-Executive Director

Michael Stiassny provides a high degree of corporate experience and governance to Plan B. Michael holds a B.Com, LLB and is a chartered accountant and partner of KordaMentha in Auckland. He is a director of a number of public and private companies including Vector (Chairman), Tower (Chairman), NGC Holdings, NZ Windfarms and DNZ Property Fund. Michael is a Fellow (FinstD) and council member of the Institute of Directors of New Zealand, and chairman of the Institute’s Auckland branch.

Andrew Bagnall | Non-Executive Director

Andrew Bagnall holds a Commerce Degree from Otago University and an MBA from Michigan State University. Andrew was a leading figure in the New Zealand travel industry establishing and managing Gullivers Travel Group which became the major distributor of wholesale and retail travel services in New Zealand. Gullivers Travel Group was eventually listed on the NZX and subsequently sold to ASX listed S8. Andrew was also involved in co-developing one of New Zealand’s first commercial retirement villages. He now runs his own private investment company “Segoura”, which manages investments in various businesses including a cornerstone shareholding in NZX-listed Green Cross Health, of which he is also a director.

Andrew Bagnall holds a 12.5% shareholding in Plan B through an investment vehicle, Waiaro Investments Limited.

Stuart Alexander | Non-Executive Director

Stuart has 20+ years’ experience in the ICT industry with numerous roles in Executive Management including with Gen-i (now Spark), Ingram Micro NZ and Dimension Data. Stuart was a shareholder in Value Added Distributors which was sold to Ingram Micro in 2009 and a former non-executive Director of Unimarket.com, a NZ founded eProcurement SaaS provider.

Stuart currently consults to ICT companies in an advisory capacity and is also a Director of Origin IT and a Non-Executive Director of Bully Boy, an early stage start-up in Physical Security products.

Stuart has a 33%% shareholding in Bearing Trustee Limited, which has a 12.5% shareholding in Plan B.

John Bolland | Alternate Director to Andrew Bagnall

John Bolland is a graduate of Auckland University and is a management consultant who also holds several directorships, including NZX listed Green Cross Health. John’s career includes 14 years at Ernst & Young, where he had partner-level responsibility in Corporate Finance and Audit & Business Advisory. Prior to that he held a senior management role with an international reinsurance broker in London.
