Supporting our customers during COVID-19: Find out more about the operational steps we're taking »

COVID-19 Update from Plan B

Updated: 12:00pm, 19-Mar-2000

As the global Coronavirus outbreak continues to evolve, we wanted to share with you some important information about the steps we're taking to minimise the risk of exposure in our business and yours.

Plan B’s Business Continuity Plans are in place; ensuring we continue to operate in the event of a crisis. Be assured that with these plans and our geographical spread, we will continue to fulfil our service delivery commitments to you.

Here are some of the steps we’ve taken to support a remote working environment whilst at the same time continuing to provide essential services to you.

Remote working and communication

We have cancelled internal events and gatherings/meetings and we’re using video and tele-conferencing facilities to reduce face to face meetings and visitors to our premises.

All our employees are set up to work-from-home including fast internet and mobile connectivity.

Customer contact

Outside of essential support services and installation, we have suspended all travel. Our teams will conduct meetings virtually through MS Teams or via phone, or any other video conferencing platforms you prefer to use e.g. Zoom.

Essential on-site visits

If you have a requirement for on-site services, we have a rotating team available to provide services at any one time. Following best practice health and safety procedures, we are ensuring extra measures are taken on our site or yours including:

  • Wearing disposal gloves and carrying tissues and hand sanitiser.
  • Keeping at least a metre away from another person if required to be in close proximity.
  • Using disinfectant wipes when touching surfaces and handling any equipment.

Health and safety

  • Our team has changed how we greet one another, including not shaking hands.
  • We have put in place additional cleaning protocols in areas where we gather and are distributing cleaning and sanitation products, as well reminding people of best practices around hygiene and self-care.
  • If anyone in the business feels unwell, they have been advised to stay home and to seek medical advice via Healthline or their GP.

How Plan B can help during these unprecedented times

Given that we provide business continuity solutions including Standby Offices, for both shared and dedicated suites, please reach out if you need to separate any of your operational functions and keep your key staff separate.

We provide fully equipped business workspaces with access to critical technology equipment. This service provides access to an agreed number of seats at your nominated facility (or

facilities) with the option of shared or dedicated suites. Our six nationwide locations are in a permanent state of readiness and can be activated at short notice.

Each workspace seat has the following:

  • A desk, chair, telephone, headset and a thin client terminal with LCD monitor connected to a windows 10 virtual desktop with Internet access.
  • Every phone comes with a DDI and we can replicate your organisation’s own telephone system.
  • We test our equipment every month to make sure everything is ready to go at the time you need it.
  • We have also put in place additional cleaning protocols in our standby offices and are distributing cleaning and sanitation products in these premises, including communal spaces such as kitchens and toilets.

Standby Office Options:

  • Multi-subscriber – This is a shared space and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Dedicated Suites – Customised per customer, this is a fully dedicated facility, where no-one else can use this space. We currently have dedicated suites available in Hamilton Central, Wellington and Christchurch.
