Our History

Plan B Limited ("Plan B") was founded in 1999 as Business Continuity New Zealand Limited and renamed Plan B in 2003. Headquartered on Auckland's North Shore, Plan B also has facilities in Auckland (Mt Wellington and Albany), Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch. Plan B is well capitalised, profitable and privately owned by New Zealand domiciled shareholders.

We operate a nationwide network of facilities and infrastructure, including four data centres, and we’re New Zealand’s leading provider of Business Continuity Services. We provide infrastructure, networking and business continuity services to more than 700 organisations including many of the most recognised global and local brands.

  • Business Continuity New Zealand incorporated as spin off from AS Information Solutions.

    1999

  • Gray Mathias founding investor in Business Continuity New Zealand .

    1999

  • Albany (Auckland) standby office facility opens

    1999

  • Mt Wellington (Auckland) standby office facility opens.

    2002

  • Business Continuity New Zealand changes name to Plan B.

    2003

  • Ian Forrester and Gray Mathias buy out other shareholders of Plan B.

    2007

  • Hamilton standby office facility opens.

    2008

  • Plan B launches cloud backup services.

    2008

  • Wellington standby office facility opens.

    2009

  • Christchurch standby office facility and data centre opens.

    2009

  • New Tawa (Wellington) Data Centre opened by Hon. Bill English.

    2014

  • Acquired Disaster Recovery Group.

    2014

  • Turnstone acquired.

    2015

  • Acquired The Internet Company of New Zealand (ICONZ).

    2016

  • ForeverStore, the World’s first cloud optical storage-as-a-service, incorporated and launched in partnership with Panasonic.
